General Questions
What is a podiatrist?
A podiatrist is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the foot and ankle. While often referred to as “foot doctors,” podiatrists are highly trained healthcare providers who are frequently the first to recognize systemic conditions that manifest in the feet, such as diabetes, gout, arthritis, vascular disease, and more.
Podiatrists complete four years of undergraduate study, followed by four years of podiatric medical school, and one to three years of residency training in areas such as surgery, wound care, and biomechanics. They are licensed to prescribe medications, perform surgery, hold hospital privileges, and provide complete evaluation and care for the foot and ankle
How do I pronounce Dr. Doan’s last name?
It’s pronounced like “loan” but with a D.
How did the practice get its name, Solevanna?
The name Solevanna was thoughtfully chosen to reflect both our specialty and our philosophy of care. “Sole” highlights our focus on the foot and ankle, while “Vanna” carries a soft, spa-like sound, flowing like “savannah” that conveys comfort and ease. It also holds a personal connection to Dr. Doan’s first name, Anna.
Our logo was designed with the same care, blending the letter “S” from our brand name and Dr. Doan’s favorite flower, the hydrangea: a symbol of grace, resilience, and heartfelt dedication.
