Frequently Asked Questions About Digital X-Rays

  • When you’re a new patient at our practice, or if you’re coming in with a new foot or ankle problem, an X-ray is often the first step. Digital X-rays give us a clear picture of your bones and joints so we can make an accurate diagnosis.

    To see is to know, and not to see is only to guess. We will never guess when it comes to your health at Solevanna Foot & Ankle.

  • X-rays are generally avoided during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. While digital X-rays use 80–90% less radiation, we take extra precautions if one is needed, including a lead shield apron, lowest possible dose, and alternative imaging options when appropriate. Always let us know if you are pregnant or may be pregnant before your exam.

    • You may be asked to remove your shoes or socks and change into our comfortable disposable slippers for your exam.

    • Please remove jewelry or metal items that could interfere with imaging.

    • You may continue taking your regular medications unless instructed otherwise.

    • You will also be offered an X-ray shield apron for additional protection.

    • The process is quick, painless, and requires no special preparatio

  • The process usually takes less than 5 minutes. Results are available instantly, so Dr. Doan can review them with you during your visit.

  • Digital X-rays use 80–90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays, making them one of the safest imaging tools available. We also provide a protective lead shield apron for added safety.

  • Most insurance plans cover X-rays when medically necessary.
